For a nation that was one of the first to discover oil and which in the last couple of decades has become the fastest growing discoverers of fossil energy resources is on the threshold to become one of the largest global markets. The need for a resource center was anticipated to keep pace with the fast developing and competitive energy industry, to plan for the future and to continuously build requisite intellectual capital and human resource skills.

School of Petroleum Management has been set up under Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) as a centre of excellence in industry learning to develop human resources to cater to the petroleum and allied energy sectors, improve knowledge base of policy makers and technologists and provide a competitive edge to leaders to compete in global arena. It has been promoted with the initiative of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (GSPC) a Gujarat government undertaking, which is a leader in the energy sector.

School of Petroleum Management is in process of receiving application for its 4th Batch. Admission to School of Petroleum Management is based on merit of CAT scocre, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The School also recently witnessed one of the finest placement for the Batch 2009. Students are placed at Schlumberger, KPMG, HPCL, IOCL, GSPC & its Group Companies, ICICI Lombard, E & Y to name a few
